Isobel Messer graduated from Liverpool John Moores Art School with a BA in Fashion and Textiles. Her career initially was designing cards and wrapping paper for companies such as Hallmark. Later, Isobel changed her focus to silk painting and dying. She produced silk scarfs for sale through a number of craft shops and decorated silk clothing, such as silk waistcoats for weddings. Isobel also trained others in silk painting techniques at her Studio Brackenwood, as well as Burton Manor and Alston Hall.
In later life she moved onto exploring other art mediums, creating collages and wall murals on a wide range of subjects. She exhibited some of her work at the Williamson in Birkenhead, Chester Grosvenor and Ruthin Craft Centre.
Isobel Ann Messer, known to her family as Ann, died on 5th September 2018. She is much missed by her family and friends.
